The Camp Fire started on November 8 at 6:29 am. Fueled by intense north winds, a dry air mass and critically dry fuels, the fire moved rapidly from the Pulga area in the Feather River Canyon into nearby communities including Paradise, Magalia and Concow, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and buildings. Critical fire weather conditions spread the fire to over 100,000 acres in the first two days.

The high winds experienced in the first few days of the incident have abated and fire growth has slowed. However, extremely dry fuels coupled with rugged terrain are presenting firefighters with challenging conditions. Responders from across state and country have been assigned to the fire, including resources from Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota and Nebraska.

On November 11, the U.S. Forest Service entered into unified command for the Camp Fire with CAL FIRE, Butte County Sheriff’s Department and the Paradise Police Department.

This is a great quality coin. The construction and weight feels very nice in your hand. I was many of the responders that worked during this fire. For me this coin serves as a reminder of the combined efforts of everyone that came to deliver aid and the kindness of humanity and animals. People from all over California also came to be volunteers wherever they could fit in. It will take many years to rebuild. Perhaps it would be cool to have commerarative “after” coin.

Thank you for your kind words and thank you for your service. An “After Coin” is a great idea. If you have some art or ideas, let us know.

      Blessings!
