The Central LNU Complex challenge coin is 1-3/4″ in diameter and nickel plated with hard enamel. The font of the coin shows final perimeters of the fires that started on October 8, 2017. The black background indicates a fatality fire. Firefighter/Driver Garrett “Taco” Paiz lost his life in a traffic accident on the Nuns fire on October 16, 2018. His name is stamped on the edge. The back of the coin is a representation of the massive destruction cause by the Tubbs Fire, which at the time of minting was the most destructive fire in California history. The Tubbs fire destroyed 5,636 structures and killed 22 civilians.
