The Frog Fire Campaign Coin is 1-3/4″ in diameter and nickel plated with hard enamel. The front of the coin shows the final perimeter of the fire that started on July 30, 2015.  The back shows large ash pile know as “The Smiles of Gods” located in the Modoc National Forest .  The edge of the coin is stamped “Black Hills National Forest Engine Captain David Ruhl” who sacrificed his life while fighting the blaze.

The Frog Fire was a fatal fire that occurred during the 2015 California wildfire season that burned 4,863 acres of land in the Modoc National Forest.  The fire was one of many fires that was started on July 30 during a lightning storm.

On July 31, a United States Forest Service Captain David Ruhl from South Dakota died of carbon monoxide poisoning while battling the fire.
