The Keauhoa Ranch Brush Fire challenge coin is 1-3/4″ in diameter and nickel plated with hard enamel. The font of the coin shows final perimeter of fire that started on August 5, 2018. The background is a Hawaiian print with the green representing the US Forest Service and the flowers representing SO CAL IMT 2. The back of the coin pays homage to the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, where the fire occurred. Emanating from the volcano is Pele, the Hawaiian Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes. The Keauhou Ranch Brush Fire started on August 5, 2018 near Mauna Loa Road in the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. The fire was managed by Southern California Incident Management Team 2 and grew to 3,739 acres. It was the first time in 15 years that an incident management team had been called to the Islands.
